AGM and talk: Resilient urban green spaces for the future

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATE

Registration recommended but not essential

7:30 pm, 8 November St Andrews Uniting Church, corner of Vernon Street and Chisholm Street, Turramurra

SmartGreenAfter our annual general meeting, Prof Michelle Leishman (Macquarie University) will talk about the impact of climate change on our urban forests and current research to find climate-ready species and create resilient nature-positive cities.

Trees provide a multitude of ecosystem services for our cities and their inhabitants, from temperature reduction and stormwater management to improved health and wellbeing. To ensure these services are maximised, cities require healthy and resilient urban forests. Increased temperatures and shifts in rainfall patterns due to climate change are putting pressure on our existing urban forest, and some species that have succeeded in the past may fail to do so in the future.
