 Three members of the Ku-ring-gai 
 GeoRegion Steering Committee will provide a briefing about the current sta
 tus of the outstanding Ku-ring-gai GeoRegion\, one of three approved GeoRe
 gions in Australia.
 The Friends of Ku-ring-gai Environment Inc (FOKE) ha
 s initiated this project with the objective of making a positive contribut
 ion to conservation based in and around Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park an
 d extending to include the Northern Beaches coastline. This 440 sq km area
  is located on the northern outskirts of Sydney (and within the area formi
 ng part of the former Sydney Harbour National Landscape).
 Much of the na
 tural bushland of the GeoRegion has been conserved within six protected ar
 eas. The largest being Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park with other protecte
 d areas including Muogamarra Nature Reserve\, and parts of Berowra Valley 
 National Park\, Lane Cove National Park\, Garigal National Park and Long R
 eef Aquatic Reserve. Visitors can discover self-guided trails\, learn abou
 t ancient rock formations and plan trips to iconic sites\, making it a mus
 t-visit resource for nature enthusiasts and educators. Stunning vistas and
  coastal\, forest and woodland walks can be explored. Information about th
 e GeoRegion’s geology and landscapes\, biodiversity\, and Aboriginal cul
 tural history developed over millennia is also available.
 Steering Commi
 ttee Chair\, Ursula Bonzol\, has been a committee member of FOKE since 200
 9. She has 35 years experience in the development\, marketing and manageme
 nt of major projects.
 Bob Conroy has more than 40 years of experience in
  protected area management in both operational and executive roles\, inclu
 ding as Regional Manager of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park\, a volunteer 
 with the RFS\, and a member of WCPA for the IUCN.
 Angus M Robinson\, an 
 experienced executive\, is a long-standing member of FOKE\, also the Coord
 inator of Geotourism Australia\, an entity of the Australian Geoscience Co
 uncil Inc implementing the National Geotourism Strategy\, having worked to
  formally establish geotourism practice within the GSA in 2011.
