Experience the dramatic changes in vegetation as the tall blue gums growing on the rich, volcanic soils of the Hornsby diatreme give way to the woodland on the iconic sandstone ridge tops. A haven for many species of wildlife, discover for yourself this stunning area right on Hornsby's back doorstep.

Meet: end of Rosemead Road, Hornsby Valley, next to the park – plenty of kerbside parking!
Length: 5 km (about 3 h)
Grade: moderately challenging to challenging; some sections are hilly, steep and rough and there is a tricky creek crossing
Suitability: adults and older teens with some bushwalking experience and a moderate level of fitness; participants under 16 must be accompanied by an adult; not suitable for children
Bring: snacks, drink, hat, salt or repellent in case of leeches
