Grade: moderate good tracks or service trails, one steep flight of sandstone steps
Meet: Two Creeks Track, cnr Slade Avenue and Tryon Road, East Lindfield (kerbside parking on Slade Avenue)
Alternative access: train to Lindfield station then 700 m walk down Tryon Road (with good chance of lift back to station if needed)
Bring: walking shoes, hat, camera, binoculars, water, maybe light snack or fruit

Description
Two Creeks Track starts in the upper reaches of Gordon Creek, part of the Middle Harbour catchment. It follows a broadening valley, and the track climbs out of shady coachwood rainforest into sandstone woodland with patches of wet heath. The Gordon Creek valley merges downstream with the wide, deep valley of Middle Harbour Creek which broadens downstream into Middle Harbour. There will be stops to look at key vegetation communities or any chance encounters with wildlife – bird, mammal or reptile. We'll return by the same route roughly from the powerline crossing below the Lindfield substation. Two alternative return routes (via a tributary valley to Swaines Gardens or climbing the historic 1930s cobbled zigzag trail up to the crest of Slade Avenue) are subject to heavy storm damage, blockage by fallen trees and are covered with slippery leaf-fall, and so they are not suitable for large walking parties.
Highlights
Rainforest of coachwoods overtopped by turpentines following a deep valley with bright, sparkling stream and small rapids and waterfalls. Sydney sandstone woodland with common trees such as Sydney peppermint. Pockets of wet heath with seepage from sandstone benches – good places to see Christmas bells in season. Mangroves of main local species: lush and healthy. Opportunity to gain geographic knowledge of lie of the land and links to other walking tracks and trails in Garigal National Park and adjoining reserves.
Weather issues
Heavy rain may make the pedestrian tunnel under Arterial Road difficult or impassable. Excessive heat, extreme fire danger or total fire ban will also prompt cancellation, via the phone contact you provide when registring.
